The Last Dance

A masterpiece amongst documentary movies. Really - you don't have to be a basketball or sports fan to enjoy "The Last Dance". It's like the best, full of emotions series, and when it's over, it's a pity to say goodbye to the characters: Michael Jordan, Scott Pippen, Dennis Rodman or Phil Jackson.

"The Last Dance", Michael Jordan's career story, is a great piece of documentary work. We've got miles of archival footage here, and the statements of a real dream team of "talking heads" (there's even Barrack Obama). But the way it's told! Sport doesn't need a scriptwriter, because it writes amazing stories itself - the story about Jordan’s Chicago Bulls is one of them – and you can tell them in a better or worse way. ESPN did it wonderfully.

The premises of the story is the last season of the great Chicago Bulls so like the last dance in the title. The players and the coach know that they won't play in this lineup anymore, so they are trying to win the title and say goodbye in the best way. Will it work? The answer to this question is interspersed with flashbacks showing the beginnings of Jordan's career and the Bulls' path to the top.⠀⠀⠀⠀

Jordan's paradoxically difficult character helped to reach this peak. The star was morbidly ambitious, dependent on competition and winning, and extremely demanding towards his colleagues. And there is no hiding it. He stresses that only this way the team could achieve its legendary status.

Michael Jordan and Chicago Bulls were icons of pop culture of the 90s. "The Last Dance" allows you to look behind the scenes of this phenomenon. Plus, it also perfectly shows the beauty of sport and the emotions that come with it.
